It's Friday

Happy Friday Everyone!  This morning  we enjoyed a breakfast of refried beans and flour tortillas.  Yum!  By 7:30 am we circled for prayer and received a phone call that Pastor Guillermo was in a motorcycle accident.  Pastor "G" is our Honduran site forman.  He is a bivocational pastor and block layer.  We prayed and headed out for the worksite.  By the time we arrived, Pastor "G"  came riding up.  He was banged up pretty good, but was ok.

Progress today was a bit slower as the walls grew taller and we worked around the doors and windows.  Today was much hotter than yesterday.  As the morning progressed, work on the outhouse progressed as well.  Pastor G's son, Gustavo, hand dug a 10-12 foot hole, 4'x4', and poured concrete walls.  By lunch, the concrete pad was laid across the top of the hole.  In addition to building physical structures, our team spent a lot of time building relationships with the kids.  Our team took turns playing soccer.

After lunch, work progressed rather efficiently.  We fininished the eighth course today!  We had to stop about 3:00 because the rains came.  It poured!   We cleaned up and exchanged wonderful hugs with the children and Garcia family.

After dinner tonight, we are going to Wendy's for a Frosty.  I am so proud of our team.  They have worked hard on the jobsite loving the kids, laying block, caring for each other and serving Christ.

Adios!

  1. Like I told Brian I will post everyday! Reading what y'all are doing is a highlight to my day, it's amazing to think that a group of teenagers and some adults (who may act like teenagers) can build a house! I hope your Frostys are good! I'm praying for your safety, have fun!
